Multi-Awarded Fashion Icon, Shekhar Rahate Is Presenting Awards At The G.O.D. Awards Night3/31/2013
As an Advisory Council member of WCH, Shekhar has been working closely together with WCH Founder, Maria Amor on some charity events, and recently at the Presidential Inauguration in Washington DC. G.O.D. is proud to have Shekhar Rahate as one of the presenters of award.
Dr. Rahate was trained in fashion design at the Dubai Beams International Fashion School. He recently received his Ph.D. in sociology with a concentration in film, television, and video from Hill College. Rahate's many design awards considerably hastened the completion date of his degree program. In 2012 alone Rahate received the Fashion Couturier of the Year Award from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Indo-American Advisory Council; the Versace Award for Global Excellence in Fashion at a Global Independence Day gala in Beverly Hills organized by the US Asia Business Forum; and the Mahatma Gandhi Pravasi Medal for non-resident Indians at the House of Lords in London. Rahate is also slated to receive a Crystal Ball Award as a Visionary Designer from Dr. Laura Wilhelm's Los Angeles-based consulting company LauraWil Intercultural later this year. This multi-talented designer is a global success story with runway shows in Los Angeles, New York City, and San Francisco as well as overseas in Dubai, United Arab Emirates; Durban, South Africa; Frankfurt, Germany; Luzern, Switzerland; Mumbai, India; and Paris, France. Dr. Rahate is the only designer in history ever to show at the United Nations. Rahate's recent display of women's formal wear and headpieces at the International Fashion SuperModel final in Hollywood on October 24th topped off a Halloween-themed celebrity spectacle. The IFSM final was broadcast to millions of viewers in the USA and China. Dr. Rahate regularly participates at New York Fashion Week, favoring luxurious locations such as the famed Waldorf Astoria Hotel. His one of a kind gowns have appeared on red carpets at the Cannes Film Festival as well as the Emmys and the Oscars.

Singer, song-writer, dancer, actress Melissa Diehl is definitely one of the most promising young talents in Hollywood right now. Born on September 11, 1998, Melissa entered the world to make it her own. She has made the world her stage, putting big smiles on all with her warm and soulful voice. It's no wonder that this little girl turned into the charismatic, loving multi-talented singer, song-writer, dancer, actress, with a flair for theatrics that she is today. At age two, Melissa was rocking and dancing while her peers were crying and hiding on stage. At age six, she was performing solo pieces and modeling on TV morning shows. Winning talent category on Pretty Little Miss and Miss International. The next year Melissa got accepted into Vanderbuilt Blair School of Music children's chorus in Nashville, Tennessee, a highly acclaimed music school for gifted musicians and artists. By age ten, she was performing with former Broadway stars in the Musical production ABBAsolutely Fabulous at the No Square Theater in Laguna Beach, despite the casting's director’s minimum age requirement of sixteen years old to audition. Noted for her "Unique", "Woody", and "Mature" voice by the Director Saif Eddin. Melissa has since gone on to play various roles at the Camino Real Playhouse for The King and I (danced with an all adult cast) and the classic tale, Christmas Story. Melissa was drawn back to music when she was a finalist at OC Icon where she was noted for her "Believability and Star like quality" by the judges (Mark L. Walberg, host of Fox television’s “The Moment of Truth” and PBS’s “Antique Road Show”; Kye Brackett, Emmy Award-winning choreographer for Barry Manilow, and Grammy-nominated singer and Orange County native, Cassie Miller; and Suzy Sachs, talent development executive credited with launching the careers of Brendan Fraser and Hilary Swank. Nelson Coats, production designer of movie “Last Song”, pointed out the remarkable similar qualities between Melissa and Miley Cyrus. In addition to her musical talent, Melissa is an aspiring actress, an expert stand-up paddle boarder, advanced Ashtanga Yoga practitioner, horseback rider, boxer. She also participates on her high school competition dance team. Melissa is also an excellent student who has continued to receive Superintendent awards for Academic Excellence and maintaining a 4.0 GPA while taking all accelerated classes. Melissa has performed many venues in Nashville, TN and along the southern coast of California, including Ingram Hall, Carpenter Center and Coach House. She has been successfully lead her groups or bands to headline many charity events, including Cancer Relay, raise fund for Liver Walk and sent toys and her autography to LA Children's hospital etc. She spend Christmas season singing with kids with Autism...... No matter it is to sing with legendary bands or free charity events, Melissa is always noted by her stage presence and confidence at such a young age! “They are all amazing singer and dancer! But when Melissa sings and dances, she makes me happy and moved” said by many. For Melissa, that is all she wants to do, to put a smile on her fan's face one by one.......
Once again, we are honored to have Ms. Jeraldine Saunders to grace another WCH event. In the past, Ms. Saunders had been our Keynote speaker and a judge. For the 1st Annual G.O.D. Awards, she is joining the glittering stars and dignitaries of G.O.D. as a presenter of awards.

Shihan Mark Parra is the Founder, Director & Chief Instructor of The House of Champions, Academy of Martial Arts in San Fernando Valley. There is over thirty years of Martial Arts experience in his blood and Black Belts in four different styles and disciplines. His first experience with the Arts was watching Bruce Lee as Kato in the television series “The Green Hornet”. His second encounter was with Benny “The Jet” Urquidez and his family. In 1978, Mark trained with the Urquidez Brothers at the North Valley ’s YMCA, a journey that will last a lifetime. Mark is one of only a few elite Black Belts ever bestowed upon by The Jet Center and the Urquidez Family. Ten years later Mark became the Director of the Martial Arts Program at the Jet Center in Van Nuys, California before closing its doors in 1994. A year later Mark opened the HOUSE OF CHAMPIONS. Five years later in 2000, a spectacular 6,500 square feet facility opened to the public. WCH is honored to have a Pakistani representative for the G.O.D. Awards. Having seen Sameer's accomplishments in the community, there is no doubt Sameer should represent Pakistan as Humanitarian Ambassador.
Sameer Moosani has always been part of community and cultural events since the early years of his youth. He successfully organized Pakistan Day Festival for four consecutive years in California State University of Fullerton. In these events there was always a crowd of over 10,000 people. These events brought Pakistani community together and portrayed rich culture and traditions of Pakistan. Pakistan Day events was not enough for Sameer’s urge and dedication to promoting cultural music so in summer 2003 he organized a live concert of world famous South Asian band “JUNOON“ at Jane Fonda Music Box Theatre in Hollywood CA. This event started a new trend for South Asian community of organizing a live concert in a stand up audience venue, and it was attended by over 1,000 fans. In 2004 he was again involved in arranging Pakistan Day event with the students of University of Southern California. The famous Bhangra singer “SUKHBIR“ performed and uplifted a crowd of over 10,000 people. In 2005 he actively organized Pakistan Day event at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and invited “JUNOON” again. In 2006 Sameer organized an unforgettable Pakistan Day event which was held at Exposition Park Los Angeles. This event was telecasted live in more than 122 countries on ARY Digital Television Network. Since then Sameer is actively involved in Pakistan Day Festival every year under the Umbrella of UFPID and have improved the standard of this festival every year. In 2007 Sameer also formed a Promotion Company name LAX Promotion Inc, which arranges the high quality concerts and fundraiser and help the community with the wider range of electronic Marketing. Sameer has also served the Community and hold positions in various Organizations such as: United For Pakistan Independence Day (Treasurer), Memon Organization of North America (Founder and BOD), Advisor to LA Sheriff Interfaith Clergy Council (BOD), LAX Promotions Inc (Vice President), Council of Pakistan America Affairs,(Youth Director). Sameer achieved Bachelors In Commerce from the Government Commerce College Karachi, and then Masters in Commerce from Karachi University. He worked in Sales for almost 17 years. Worked for mostly Fortune 500 companies such as Nordstrom, Calvin Klein Cosmetics, Kirby, Sizzler and Peoples Choice Home loans. Currently working for Mercedes Benz as a Maybach Relations Manager for House of Imports Inc.

There is no doubt that Jeannette Slavinski deserves a medal of honor for all the amazing work she's doing to support the Help for Heroes and Wounded Warriors. Jeannette's mission receives support from BBC, Union Jack, Royalty and high profile entities allover the world. Jeannette's Mantra: “There is a poem in the heart of every human being”– . . . IS A HUMBLE creed forever ringing in loud and clear in the ear of freelance writer Jeannette Slavinski. With her mantra resonating loudly she invited poets to donate their own poems via the web and facebook to help the injured service men & women of war. I had the pleasure of meeting Darrel Holnes in Washington DC for the 57th Presidential Inauguration back in January. I knew from the moment we shook hands that he was special; something about his aura told me that he creates great things. And after learning more about Darrel and saw his work make impact to the world, G.O.D. is presenting him the Broadway Icon of The Year Award.
Renowned writer-producer Darrel Alejandro Holnes has produced arts events and programs for the past decade both nationally and internationally, and holds degrees in creative writing from the University of Michigan and the University of Houston. He and his work have been featured in TIME Magazine, the Kennedy Center for the Arts Theater Festival, on the Best American Poetry blog, The Caribbean Writer, Callaloo, and elsewhere. He’s been a guest speaker at the United Nations, supported programming at the White House as a Presidential Inaugural Scholar, and contributed work to the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress. Holnes founded EMERGING, a movement celebrating cutting-edge and innovative musical theater in New York City with a Broadway Composers Cabaret at The Lambs Club, and a Broadway Understudies & Swing(er)s cabaret, currently at Toshi’s Living Room in the Flatiron Hotel. Percy Pinkney, influential political figure and State President of the Black American Political Association of California is being honored as Dignitary Man of The Year by WCH at G.O.D. Awards.
Percy Pinkney is one of the founding members of BAPAC, where he currently serves as State President, and has worked with US Senator Dianne Feinstein for over twenty years. His work has proved essential in numerous political campaigns, including Jerry Brown's recent victorious bid for California State Governor. Percy continues to work each and every day to help many groups, such as veterans and youth.

Michael Peer, a Pop-Opera crossover vocalist was born in Tel-Aviv, Israel. His passion for singing was discovered by his grandfather, Arkadi Namatiev (Russian Opera Singer), at the age of six. When he was 17 years old, he decided to pursue his career in music. Michael graduated from Aaron Copland, New York, Master of Music in 2008. He studied with world renowned voice teachers such as: Mark Oswald, Patricia McCaffrey and Seth Riggs. His voice is often described as, "Velvet, outstanding timber (color) with a huge range of 4 octaves that can easily sing Bass to Contra Tenor,” Yedioth Achronot Newspaper, Sept. 2010 "From the start of a young man, Michael had a vibrant voice that displayed an incredible versatility between Opera and Pop styles,” Classical Singer, Nov. 2011. He performed at Opera Colorado, Long Island Opera and the Israeli Opera among other opera houses. Few of the roles that Michael performed include: Alidoro, Don Magnifico (La Cenertola),Papagenno (Magic Flute), Don Alfonso (Cosi fan tutte), Bartolo, Antonio, Figaro (Le nozze di Figaro), Guccio (Gianni Schicchi). He played the role of Raul from “Phantom of the Opera”; by Andrew Llyod Webber. One of Michael’s highlight performances was his debut recital at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, New York, NY Nov. 2011. In addition, Michael is the music director of Arkadi Foundation that supports children with cancer diseases. As a volunteer in this foundation, he performs regularly as soloist at the Opera Idol show, Lincoln Center, New York, NY in 2011, 2012, and the years to come.
