Veteran Journalist and Ambassadorial Bet for KSA Conferred As Filipino Media Icon of the 4th G.O.D. Awards
We Care for Humanity (WCH), a US based non-profit organization advocating Education, Health, Human Rights, Peace, Empowerment, Eradication of Poverty and Green Environment announces the awarding of Filipino Media Icon Award under its annual flagship event, the 4th Global Officials of Dignity (G.O.D.) Awards in Manila, Philippines. The recipient is none other than Dr. Abdul Hannan Tago, a distinguished Filipino who was one of the pillars in contriving the new history of the Philippines.
Tago is being honored for his humanitarian works and his 25 years of responsible and altruistic reporting for Arab News which brought numerous benefits to his fellow Filipinos abroad especially in the Middle-East.
The said awarding is slated on October 29, 2016 at Cherry Bloosom Hotel, Ermita Manila and will be attended by a few government officials, family and close friends. The VIP’s expected to come are Honorable Secretary Abdullah "Dabs" Mama-o, Presidential Adviser on OFWS Affairs and Muslim Concerns, Honorable Japar B. Dimaampao, Associate Justice of Court of Appeals and many more.
Princess Maria Amor Torres, founder and chairman of WCH and the G.O.D. Awards is expected to arrive to Manila on October 29 from her successful trips to Kenya and Egypt to personally award the long overdue recognition to Dr. Tago. “Dr. Tago uses the power of media to do good, like saving a man’s life from death row or help the people’s president gets elected. He is without a doubt deserving of the Filipino Media Icon Award", said the princess.
Here is one important testimony from a man whose life was saved partly because of Dr. Tago:
“A blessed day to everyone. I am Dondon Lanuza. Perhaps you can still remember my sad experience when I was imprisoned for 13 years in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. I cannot relate the whole story because it is a long one. During those times, I felt so hopeless that the only things that kept me sane were my strong faith in prayers and some kind-hearted persons around me. One of them was Dr. Abdul Hannan M. Tago, who played a vital role in my freedom. He spent so much time doing so many things to ensure my release – writing and sending volumes of letters, translating my parents’ letters to Arabic, travelling, even personally approaching Princes to help gather funds for the needed bloodmoney, among others. He was one of the first persons to know when I would be actually set free. To all of his help, I and my family will always be grateful. I personally experienced how he spent his time, money and effort to assist us in our times of need. He works with sincerity, compassion, perseverance and dedication. These are traits of a leader needed in our Philippine Embassy in Saudi Arabia. If given the chance to be our Ambassador, I know that our OFW’s will be in good hands for they have someone highly qualified and experienced to attend to their needs. I can personally attest to that. Thank you and God bless Dondon Lanuza ex-OFW on Deathrow.
More about Dr. Abdul Hannan Tago:
Dr. Abdul Hannan Tago is the first Filipino multilingual journalist, political analyst and a top-notch media consultant with deep insight into Arabic culture and Middle East affairs. He has been working in Saudi Arabia for the last 25 years plus 9 years study in Cairo Egypt.
He obtained his BA in Arabic literature, with a major in Mass Communications and Public Relations from Al-Azhar University (Egypt) and MA in Political Science from Arab League Institution - Cairo (Egypt).
On September 12, 2012, he was awarded the title, “Doctor of Humanity AUGP Ambassador of Goodwill of Peace, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia” with the approval of the AUGP Board of Directors, Founder and Chairman Most Rev. Dr. Madhu Krishan.
He is currently the Senior Vice-President for International Relations and Cooperation with the rank of Goodwill Ambassador to Saudi Arabia for SPMUDA International.
He is the Founder President of the Integrated Mindanao Economic Forum (IMEF) based in Riyadh. Abdul Hannan was also nominated as the Philippine Ambassador to Riyadh in 2010 for his role in cementing Saudi-Philippine relations.
He worked, from 1992-2016 with Arab News, the leading newspaper in the Middle East, as a senior staff writer. In this capacity, he was invited by many Saudi Arabia’s friendly countries in Middle East, Asia and Europe, as a member of the media team from the Arab and Gulf countries.
He was the lone Arabic-speaking Filipino journalist among the Arab media representatives. Hannan’s fluency in Arabic has provided him with a medium through he has won friends (including top Saudi businessmen) and influenced people like Saudi billionaire, Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, to cite an outstanding example of his high-voltage connection. Through his initiative, Prince Alwaleed International Foundation has donated $500,000.00 to various educational institutions in Mindanao for the misfortune and underprivileged students.
Furthermore, Abdul Hannan is the only Filipino journalist who can write in chaste Arabic. He was, in fact, a regular contributor to leading Arabic newspapers in the Middle East. His articles appear in leading publications like Al-Sharq Al-Awsat and Al-Eqtisadiah frequently, besides other Arabic newspapers. He appeared on Saudi TV both in Arabic Channel and the English service (Channel 2), where he dwelt on current issues in Saudi Arabia.
It is no mean achievement that Abdul Hannan has been selected as one of the guest speakers at the 2nd Annual Saudi Broadcasting Forum which was held in Riyadh on 29-30 September, 2012.
Abdul Hannan has 35 years’ experience under his belt in the Middle East, of which eight years were devoted to academic studies in Cairo, and 21 years in Saudi Arabia. He worked with Saudi government’s stocks regulator, Capital Market Authority (CMA), and the Saudi Stock Market in its Media and Investment Awareness Department for two years. He was tasked by the CMA to organize the joint CMA/Euromoney/SAMA and SAGIA Economic Forum on "Building the Future" held in Riyadh in 2006.
As a Filipino journalist, Abdul Hannan has also leveraged his media resources to champion the cause of his compatriots in distress. Accordingly, he coordinated with SPMUDA, an international NGO with presence in 193 countries, in mobilizing the support of print media and social networking sites for Dondon Lanuza's case, the OFW on death row based in Dammam Saudi Arabia has came to light again after publishing it in Arab News on August 31, that followed his personal letter in Arabic to HRH Prince Alwaleed bin Talal for possible assistance.
Lanuza was freed in September this year and now already in his hometown as a freeman. That move was followed with strong appeal by SPMUDA to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz for his Majesty’s possible intervention.
Hannan highlighted the plight of 52-year-old Salmos, who had met with an electrical accident while at work in 2010, who lives alone with no family support in Jeddah or any job to sustain him during his crisis.
Thanks to Hannan’s initiative, Salmos’ plight caught the attention of Human Rights associations when his photo appeared on major social networks, including various channels in the Philippines.
Abdul Hannan has also been in the forefront of other initiatives requiring media intervention. In one such case, he highlighted the plight of 19 OFWs in the Al-Jouf Province (northern part of Saudi Arabia).

Torres was invited as the Chief Guest by Kalonzo Musyoka Foundation (KMF) to the national celebration of the “African Dignitary Man of the Year Award” which was conferred to Kenya’s former Vice President, His Excellency Dr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka at the United Nations last August 19, 2016.
The local celebration which took place at the Intercontinental Hotel in Nairobi last October 18, organized by Hon. Jonathan Mueke and Mr. Raphael Nzomo was attended by over 700 distinguished guests headed by Governor of Nairobi, Honorable Evans Kidero, Former Prime Minister Hon. Raila Odinga, Senate Minority Leader Hon. Moses Wetangula, Senators and Members of Parliament. In his award address, His Excellency Kalonzo said, “I dedicate this award to Kenya and Africa at large. The African Dignitary Man of the Year Award is one that should humble us all and remind us that we are placed on this earth to make a difference and leave a positive mark behind. Therefore let us all cast our stone towards making this place a better place for one another. I thank you all for making the night one to remember. May God continue to bless you all, and may we continue to invest in humanity. Good day to all.”
Princess Maria has delivered her Keynote Address:
His Excellency, Dr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, Honorable Dr. Evans Kidero, Governor of Nairobi County, distinguished guests, a pleasant evening to all of you. I am over joyed to be invited to this beautiful country as your honoured guest to this very important ceremony.
Before I continue, allow me to share something to you. Exactly 2 weeks ago, I lost to sickness the most important person in my life. I am referring to my mother. She was my hero, the wind beneath my wings. In the inside, I am still grieving and not ready to face the world yet. But here I am, standing before you, because my mother wouldn’t want me to miss this day, to recognize someone who himself is a very honourable man among many people, near and far from Kenya.
As the chairman of the Global Officials of Dignity Awards (G.O.D. Awards), we seek out leaders with passion and a lot of heart. We invite these leaders for their outstanding work within their country and/ or around the world as humanitarians to be invited to our annual gala at the United Nations and recognize their efforts. Today we are celebrating one leader in particular, The Honourable Dr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, who definitely deserves today’s “African Dignitary Man of the Year” award.
Allow me to highlight with you some of the notable achievements this successful leader is being recognized for. We can all agree that a leader can have many traits and qualities, but what stands out for me, is his PASSION. Passionate to help the people of Kenya. For example, launching an organization in 2005 called the Kalonzo Musyoka Foundation (KMF), to sponsor education of brilliant students from needy backgrounds, and promote community development through the creation of a just, healthy, peaceful and democratic society.
In the words of the great Nelson Mandela, who is also his friend.. – “It always seems impossible until it’s done.” You my dear friend have certainly done many impossible achievements. Such as leading peace dialogues in Sudan, which culminated in the birth of the South Sudan State as well as the Somalia peace initiative.
His Excellency has demonstrated DEDICATION as a leader to his people where he served for a five year term running from 2008 to 2013 as the immediate former Vice President of the Republic of Kenya. A total of 3 decades, he has over the years served in a number of key cabinet positions, including, that of Education, Foreign Affairs and Environment.
As well to have been recognized, for your leadership and your INTEGRITY, his Excellency was appointed in 2013 as the Honorary Chairman of World Eminent Chinese Businessmen Association (WECBA), which is a China-based organization bringing together global business leaders and philanthropists.
Then in 2014 appointed by the Government of Cyprus as the Honorary Consul General for Cyprus in Kenya.
Let me tell you my own experience of His Excellency’s good heart. While in New York for the G.O.D. awards at the United Nations. He came to my aid. I was experiencing severe stomach pain right on the day of the big event. Luckily, his Excellency brought medicine with him from Kenya and without any fuzz, he offered his help and he made sure, that I was all right to attend my own special event. Again, an exemplary leader with a good heart who cares for the needs of others. I want to personally recognize you for your GENEROSITY as a respected friend.
It is with great pleasure that I stand here in person to celebrate and honour his Excellency for his many notable achievements as a leader and as a humanitarian of many good deeds. I truly believe the Honorable Dr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka will represent the people of Kenya with integrity, with dedication and with his heart of generosity.
If you allow me Your Excellency, I would like to take this opportunity to mention a few of the overflowing congratulatory messages I received from your friends, your co-honorees at the 4th G.O.D. Awards.
First one was from His Highness Prince Faisal bin Fahd bin Abdullah Al Saud, member of The Royal House of Saud and founder of the Saudi-America Exchange. He said, “My big congratulations to you, Your Excellency and most of all congratulations to the people of Kenya for having a great leader like you.”
Next message is from Dr. Binod Chaudhary, Chairman of Chaudhary Group, the only Billionaire of Nepal and conferred as The Man of Asia: “His Excellency Dr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka is known for his unparalleled leadership and passion to help his people. Just like his friends, the great Nelson Mandela and Kofi Annan, he is the Man of Africa. I feel privileged to have him as my co-honoree at the recent 4th GOD Awards at the United Nations.. just as Kenya is privileged to have him as a leader.”
Last one from Former Prime Minister of Nepal, Khil Raj Regmi, conferred as Asia’s Dignitary Man of the Year, His Excellency Khil Raj Regmi: “Leader to a leader, I have high respect for Dr. Kalonzo for he possessed the heart and mind of a brilliant leader and humanitarian spirit of a great person, which make a perfect combination to lead a country.”
Before I end my speech, I would like to say to His Excellency that you can always count on me and We Care for Humanity, in your advocacies to eradicate poverty, to promote peace and green environment, to empower women and children, and to support your vision to have a FREE Corruption government.
You are without a doubt the “African Dignitary Man" not just of this year but of countless years! Congratulations and thank you. "

BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH OF JACOB WHEELER
Jacob Wheeler spent over fifteen years exploring his creative talents in various capacities within the entertainment and fashion industries of Europe and Asia—at times acting, often singing, but whether in Rome, Tokyo, Cannes or Paris, always pursuing his creative impulses.
While in Paris, as a singer, Jacob released recordings under the pseudonym, “The Peter Jacques Band,” and several solo recordings. He later joined the cast of “Bubbling Brown Sugar,” as an actor/singer, subsequently, recording a duet with the Broadway Show’s star performer, Vivian Reed. The songs were his compositions.
When the French government opened the airwaves to privately owned radio stations, Jacob secured the financing and managed the first “All-English Radio” station in Paris (KLOV-96.6FM) where he also served as an on-air personality each morning. During that same period Jacob was instrumental in producing fashion shows with and for the legendary designer, M. Hubert de Givenchy.
Since childhood, Jacob has been an avid movie fan and critic. His first viewing of the remarkable classic film, Cinema Paradiso, convinced him that the story was about his own life. During those years, living in France and Italy, he made frequent visits to the Cannes Film festival. When asked how he was able to go year after year, he responded, “…they told me only actors get in free. So I told them, I’m an actor, to which they requested my film credits. I listed every film I knew had more than five black people. After producing a homemade headshot that evening, I became a badge wearing entrant.”
Jacob toured Italy for several years as lead singer for various Italian artists including Enzo Avitabile, Tony Esposito and performed in a video for Edoardo Bennato. Also, recorded songs for the Joe D’Amato film “Top Model.” Jacob’s Italian adventure, culminated in a concert in New York City at the famed Apollo Theatre with James Brown and the Temptations called “Harlem Meets Naples.” Ironically, Jacob was listed on the program as one of the Italian guests, as he had made the journey from Rome with the Italians.
In Japan, Jacob became a print model, while singing in Tokyo jazz clubs and touring the country with several different Japanese artists. Then, just before leaving Japan, he performed the closing theme for the blockbuster Japanese animated film, Gundam, (“Magic”) which he also composed.
In an attempt to provide security for his wife and daughter, Jacob became a stockbroker and later a manager of two different California branches of Citibank, Huntington Beach and Woodland Hills. The most astonishing detail of this adventure was that Jacob never went to college. Among other achievements in banking, Jacob created and conducted numerous seminars on financial literacy.
A former U. S. Air Force Intelligence Specialist, Jacob is fluent in French and Italian and is currently studying Spanish.
Jacob left the financial services industry and returned to his first love, entertainment and the visual arts. Photography has been added to his professional repertoire. Be it, portraits, products, likenesses of creatures in the clouds, or erotic imagery, he proclaims, “beauty is everywhere in everything.” Currently living in New York City and studying with celebrity acting coach Susan Batson, while working on a screenplay and One-Man Show to be unveiled in September.

When she was in her teens, her family moved to Mullaitivu for business and in 1964 she married and moved again, this time to Trincomalee. Her husband was a harbour employee in Trincomalee Port and together they had four children, sadly losing one at the age of five. In 1982, after caring for him for some time, her husband passed away after suffering from cancer. In the early 1980s, her children began moving to Europe to escape the Sri Lankan Civil War and in 1992 she was fortunate enough to be able to join them in France, before moving to the UK in 2000. In Paris, Gnanambikai helped with her sons’ movie distribution business and in 1994 she embarked on a business venture in reselling telecoms calling cards. Both her two sons then joined this business and have since developed Vectone and the Lyca Groups, which features Lycamobile, an international mobile virtual network operator, now the largest of its kind in the world with an estimated annual revenue of around 1.8 billion US Dollars.
In 2010, Gnanambikai and her son, Lyca Group Chairman Allirajah Subaskaran, founded Gnanam Foundation. The Foundation does not receive any donations from the public, with all its money coming from its founders. To date, some of its projects include, but are not limited to:
Gnanambikai now has three children, eight grandchildren and a large extended family spreading across the globe. In addition to Gnanam Foundation, Gnanambikai is an active member of the Tamil Sangam Social Club in East Ham, London, which aims to help the elderly, arrange cultural programmes and generally make a difference to the local community.
