HAYE & THE BROOKLYN INTERDENOMINATIONAL CHOIR The Brooklyn Interdenominational Choir (BIC) is an ensemble committed to bringing people together through artistic expression. Members are encouraged to appreciate and celebrate the diverse cultures which make our world great. Founder Frank A. Haye, conductor, choral director, flutist, composer, and producer, states "BIC is a group of performing ambassadors that will spread the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ through song in the tri-state area, as well as throughout the United States and abroad.” BIC records and ministers in different venues, including churches, temples, festivals, concert halls, clubs, street fairs and private functions. All members of BIC receive world-class musical training and opportunities to fellowship with artists from diverse ethnic, religious, and social backgrounds. Our motto is simple: “One Great City, One Great Choir to the Glory of God". Contemporary, anthemic, and traditional songs are included in BIC’s musical repertoire. Community outreach has included classes in fitness (Zumba), Vocal Performance, Music Theory, Ear Training, Master Classes, and private music lessons. BIC has sung for worship services, interfaith gatherings, concerts, community events, international festivals, philanthropic groups, yoga festivals, fraternal associations, and artistic organizations such as Celebrate Brooklyn!, the Mark Morris Dance Group, and the Brooklyn Philharmonic. In addition, BIC performed at HBO Studios in televised shows for CBS, NBC, TBN and HBO. First place honors were awarded to BIC in the 2011 Lift Every Voice Gospel Competition. BIC sang at the Barclays Center’s September 2013 Back to School Bash. In April 2014, BIC received second place honors in the International Verona Choral Competition, Italy. BIC journeyed to Cairo, Egypt at the invitation of the US State Department in September 2014 to spread the gospel and the message of peace at the Samaa International Festival of Peace. At the invitation of the New York Philharmonic, BIC shared the stage in the June 2015 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Concerts in the Parks Series in Prospect Park. The Brooklyn Academy of Music requested that BIC return to the stage as the featured artist in their Annual Tribute to Martin Luther King, Jr. in January 2016. Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams recognized BIC in his Clergy Appreciation Breakfast in May 2016. To God be the glory! Haye states, “We believe the power of music transcends our cultural, political, financial, and religious differences to expose that which we truly share: faith, hope, and love.” |
