Actor For all Season-Eric Roberts Is G.O.D.'s Actor/Humanitarian Man of The Year

6/6/2013

Picture
Who doesn't know Eric Roberts, actor of all season and brother to the legendary Julia Roberts!  Unbeknownst to some of us, Eric is actually a humanitarian and has done a lot of philanthropic work inside and outside the country. "It is so admirable to see an accomplished actor like Eric who gives back to the community, he is a role model to the young talents who have aspirations to be stars!", proudly said by Maria Amor, Founder & President of WCH.

One of Hollywood's edgier, more intriguing characters running around and about for decades, Eric Anthony Roberts started life in Biloxi, Mississippi, but grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. He began his acting career at age 5 in a local theater company called the "Actors and Writers Workshop", founded by his late father, Walter Roberts. After his schooling at Grady High, he studied drama at age 17 in London for two years at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, then returned to the States and continued his studies at the American Academy in New York. He made his NY stage debut in "Rebel Women" in 1976 at age 20 and appeared in regional productions, once playing the newspaper boy in a production of "A Streetcar Named Desire" starring Shirley Knight and Glenn Close.

After appearing in such daytime soaps as Another World and How to Survive a Marriage, his career began to shift fast forward when he copped a leading role in a major film. In King of the Gypsies, based on Peter Maas' best-seller about a fracturing dynasty of New York City gypsies, he made his debut alongside an intimidating roster of stars including Judd Hirsch, Susan Sarandon, Shelley Winters and Sterling Hayden. Young Eric held his own expertly (winning a Golden Globe nom) while his burning intensity and brooding charm marked sure signs of star potential. After this, he won the lead opposite Milo O'Shea in the 1980 stage production of "Mass Appeal". He suffered serious injuries in a car accident during his nascent film career but lost no fans by the time he returned to co-star with Sissy Spacek as a small-town stranger in Raggedy Man. It was, however, his stark and frightening portrayal of two-bit hustler "Paul Snider", the cast-off boyfriend who slays Playmate-turned-movie starlet Dorothy Stratten (played by Mariel Hemingway) in Star 80 that really put him on the movie map and earned him a second Golden Globe nomination. A wide range of fascinating, whacked-out roles were immediately offered to him on a silver plate. He played another dangerous streetwise hustler type in The Pope of Greenwich Village opposite fellow rebel Mickey Rourke; a cocky soda pop sales exec in the Australian comedy The Coca-Cola Kid; appeared with more charm and restraint opposite Rosanna Arquette in the offbeat romantic comedy Nobody's Fool and topped his prolific period off with an Academy Award nomination as a young prison escapee hiding out with Jon Voight aboard an out-of-control train in the ultra-violent, character-driven action adventure Runaway Train. Good things continued to happen when he was a replacement lead in the original run of "Burn This" and won a Theatre World Award for his 1988 Broadway debut.

A risky, no-holds-barred actor, he was often guilty of overacting if given half the chance. His film career began to slide in the late 1980s, appearing in more quantity than quality pictures. A series of missteps led to unheralded appearances in such bombs as the karate-themed Best of the Best; the NY urban thriller The Ambulance; the action western Blood Red, which took three years to release and is now solely remembered for being the only film Eric and superstar sister Julia Roberts appeared in together; and Rude Awakening when he filled in as a burned-out hippie opposite a Chong-less Cheech Marin. More underappreciated "B" filming came with the 1990s (Freefall, Sensation, The Nature of the Beast, etc.), while also chewing the scenery with a number of mobster types in TV-movies, including one as "Al Capone". He soon began appearing as flashy secondary villains and creepies that showcased other stars instead, such as Final Analysis starring Richard Gere, Heaven's Prisoners toplining Alec Baldwin, and The Dark Knight, part of the "Batman" series with Christian Bale and the late Heath Ledger.

Eric's undeniable, unconventional talent would occasionally mesh with the perfect role. At the Sundance Film Festival in 1996, he received critical applause for his starring role as a man dying of AIDS in the uplifting and emotional film It's My Party and earned more honors as a writer marked for murder in the mob-themed story La Cucaracha. He was also perfectly cast as one of the cold-blooded killers in the Emmy-nominated TV adaptation of Truman Capote's chiller In Cold Blood. Eric continued to appear sporadically on TV in such dramatic series as Law & Order: Criminal Intent, while sometimes showing a fun side as well in comedy (The King of Queens). His own series work included Less Than Perfect and, more recently, and in the cult program Heroes where promise for a longer participation ended with his character's death.

Radio with a style, KNRNfm is definitely one of the leading internet radios out there in the world of music and entertainment. Being run by bright and talented Robert Rosas who's goal is to bring KNRNfm to the top, there is no doubt we will see KNRNfm everywhere!

Knrnfm.com originally started 8 years ago as part of surfcity radio out of Huntington Beach California. It was the 1st audio video streaming internet site. Surfcity grew and became 5150fm.com. I, Robert Rosas joined 5150fm as a dj doing weekly show after 2 years. I moved up to programming and artist relations. I was responsible for looking for shows as well as contacting publicists and nanagers to line up interviews for the site. 5150fm  faded away as more sites began to emerge offering thousands of sites doing the same thing. Knrnfm was started two years ago as a extension of 5150fm shortly after it's launch  it went down as I consider a new route to take. Jan of this year knrnfm was relaunched with the goal to provide talk and more related content to inform and educate the listeners. Today knrnfm is growing and multiple talk shows and variety on the way.

"Brett has a very diverse background, from serving the military, doing business, teaching, acting and producing, he manages to balance his life and most importantly he has time to give back to the community", said Maria Amor, WCH Founder & President.

About Brett:

"I'm first and foremost a Geek, I love gaming, movies, cons, SCA, and all around geek stuff."

Brett Hunt was born in Denver, Colorado and grew up like most kids, playing and hanging out with friends. However it was abundantly clear that at an early age he was going to be in show business. His grandmother signed him up to be on a local TV show "Blinkey's Fun Club" with local hero, Blinkey the clown; at the age of 6 and Brett was the center of the show. His fascination with entertainment kept building and he would lip-sync with his friends for family and just about anyone who listened, usually making a big production from it. It was at the age of 10 that Brett discovered magic from a local magic shop and he would go there every day after school and watch and learn, he also landed a role on 2 local commercials.  By the age of 13 Brett was performing and at the age of 14 was working his own magic shows and being paid. Throughout school Brett would take theatre and music classes, he would tryout and land roles with the local school theatre groups and continued both local print & TV commercial  work.

Brett decided he needed to see more of what the world had to offer and made the choice at the age of 17 to enlist into the US Navy and immediately went overseas to Japan. Brett served in the first Gulf War on board the flagship USS Midway. While in Japan he continued to perform magic and performed in the local theatre group. In 1992, he was signed to do his first World Magic Illusion Tour through Hong Kong, Thailand, Korea and Japan. After the military Brett kept learning new things to keep his mind sharp he became a Firefighter/EMT with a local fire department. In 2001, Brett's life changed when he was called up to serve his country once again he did two tours, one of those which lead him back to the Middle East for the second Gulf War. Being already a veteran he would do stand-up comedy & magic for fellow soldiers to take all their minds off the tension.

After his final tour Brett decided to become a reserve police officer and pursue a different path. Brett eventually decided that public service was not his passion and followed yet a different path. In 2004, Brett began working at Microsoft and started back at school to learn movie production. Brett teamed up with his best friend Robert and started full swing into entertainment again when they decided to start "The Popcorn Review." TPR became a fast hit and had a fan base of upwards of 1 million people just from the "MySpace" site alone, it spun off a weekly radio show along with four syndication partners. In 2006, Brett, Robert and their personal assistant Teresa decided to move to L.A. and live the Hollywood dream.

Brett has since been a working actor and producer in L.A.

~Brett is a highly decorated veteran who has served our country with the military; he served in both the US Navy and the US Army, (Surface, Air, Sub, and Special Ops) (He served in both Gulf Wars in 90-91 & again in 02-04).
