Statement of Gratitude to the Volunteers of the 2nd WCH Humanitarian Summit and 3rd G.O.D. Awards8/12/2015
On behalf of the entire organization of We Care for Humanity (WCH), of which I am the Founding President, I personally thank all the volunteers for their valuable contribution of time, knowledge and effort to our recently held “2nd WCH Humanitarian Summit and 3rd Global Officials of Dignity Awards” both held at the United Nations Grounds in New York from August 5 – 7, 2015. These highly attended events could not have been hugely successful without the help, patience and assistance of the many volunteers who donated their precious time.
As you may know, We Care for Humanity is a non-governmental international humanitarian organization, advocating the following global issues confronting humanity: Empowerment, Eradication of Poverty, Global Peace, Green Environment, Health, Human Rights and Human Trafficking. Its Mission is to raise awareness of humanitarianism for everyone. WCH’s Vision is to promote world peace by contributing to humanity through these seven issues. With the length of time that you have spent with us, you have contributed to the success not only of this event and our organization, but most importantly, you have been instrumental in successfully forwarding and advancing our humanitarian causes to a new height. Once again, I personally thank all our volunteers for their efforts and contribution of time! HWPL, you rock!! -Princess Dato Seri Maria Amor DK1, DD Dr. Kenneth K. Hansraj, Spinal & Orthopedic Surgeon Global Spine Health Humanitarian On the forefront of spinal surgery with stem cell usage in spine surgery, bloodless spine surgery, minimally invasive approaches when possible, advanced bone grafting techniques using spinal navigation to assess instrumentation placement, modern operating tables and nerve monitoring during spine surgery, Dr. Kenneth K. Hansraj is a spinal and orthopedic surgeon specializing in cervical, thoracic and lumbar procedures for example laminectomies and spinal fusions. Yet still, Dr. Ken has a strong desire to help the world through better spinal health. In November of 2014 he performed a study on the impact of good posture on the pressures seen by the neck. This study was carried globally by world media. Essentially he found that when the head is straight up in good posture then it weighs 10 pounds. In the posture of 60 degrees forwards the head weighs 60 pounds. The impact of this study is that with human beings globally, keeping their heads down two to four hours a day, then it is approximately at least 1,250 hours a year leading to about 300,000 pounds of stress on the neck every four years, for example teens in high school. This study was carried by almost every global news outlet. Cision media company, certified 3.4 billion unique views. There was subsquently more coverage in major magazines such as Men’s Health, Women’s Health, Esquire, GQ, Forbes, Natural Health, Time Magazine USA, Time Magazine India, etc. It is for these reasons the team believe that they have achieved over 4 billion unique views. Dr. Hansraj believes in whole body wellness, preventative care and that the spine is a principal indicator of general health impacted by “human software and hardware.” Dr. Hansraj was inspired to dedicate his life to surgery early on while observing in the operating theaters of Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY with cardiothoracic surgeons Drs. Arisan Ergin and Randall Griepp at just 16 years of age. He earned his medical degree from Hahnemann University School of Medicine, Philadelphia in 1987 after obtaining graduate studies in biological sciences from Columbia University, New York and an undergraduate degree in biological sciences from Fairleigh Dickinson University, New Jersey. He credits internationally renowned master surgeons Dr. Chitranjan S. Ranawat, Dr. Lance Weaver and Dr. Patrick F. O’Leary for their guidance and teachings in his career. His third standard (grade 3) teacher Brigu Persaud was instrumental in guidance. He selected spinal surgery as a sub-specialization in orthopedic surgery because it was uncharted territory at the time in contrast to other forms of more traditional orthopedic procedures including joint replacement. Dr. Hansraj wanted to be at the forefront of a new, exciting and challenging chapter in medicine and contribute to the shape of the overall future of spinal health and well-being. Following the completion of his general surgery and orthopedic surgery residency training at Mount Sinai Hospital and King/Drew Medical Center, (during which he completed a Fellowship in Orthopedic Biomechanics at The Hospital for Special Surgery, NY), Dr. Hansraj held a Fellowship at the California Center for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery and a Fellowship in Spinal and Scoliosis Surgery at The Hospital for Special Surgery, New York. Today, with more than two decades of surgical experience, Dr. Hansraj has seen and treated more than 30,000 patients, and has come to recognize and promote the critical importance of the spine as it relates to overall physical and mental well-being. He is the author of the international bestselling book, Keys to an Amazing Life: Secrets of the Cervical Spine, (January, 2013), which he was inspired to write based on this concept. Dr. Hansraj is also the author of Bloodless Spine Surgery: Pictures and Explanations. His goal with each of his books is to bring years of accumulated expert medical knowledge to the public at-large in an easy-to-digest format and to help countless individuals with ongoing spinal and health issues. Dr. Hansraj currently practices in New York, New York and Poughkeepsie, New York. He is an attending orthopaedic spine surgeon at Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital at Westchester Medical Center. He is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, the American Board of Minimally Invasive Spinal Medicine and Surgery, and the National Board of Medical Examiners. He has authored medical books for the layperson and the professional and has written extensively for medical journals in addition to lecturing at national and global seminars, universities and conferences. Dr. Hansraj teamed with internationally recognized, master architect Dermot Sweeny to develop The LandWorks Center, an all steel and glass, energy-efficient, Leed Platinum green building in Fishkill, NY. With floor to ceiling glass, a daylight harvesting system, motorized sunshades, open windows, and under floor air distribution, this building will augment fresh air, daylight and sunlight (without glare), beauty, health and human comfort in the work place. Dr. Hansraj resides with his wife, Dr. Marcia Griffin-Hansraj, a doctor of osteopathic medicine in Rockland County. In his spare time, Dr. Hansraj enjoys an array of physical activities including skiing, walking, jogging, running, plyometrics, weight training, yoga, spending time with his family, and changing people’s lives for the better as often as humanly possible. Dr. Kenneth Hansraj believes that people everywhere can be happier, healthier and more productive when they pay attention to their spinal health. He feels that the world can “feel better, and do more!” |
