He is without a doubt deserving of the Filipino Media Icon Award", said the princess. Here is one important testimony from a man whose life was saved partly because of Dr. Tago: “A blessed day to everyone. I am Dondon Lanuza. Perhaps you can still remember my sad experience when I was imprisoned for 13 years in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. I cannot relate the whole story because it is a long one. During those times, I felt so hopeless that the only things that kept me sane were my strong faith in prayers and some kind-hearted persons around me. One of them was Dr. Abdul Hannan M. Tago, who played a vital role in my freedom. He spent so much time doing so many things to ensure my release – writing and sending volumes of letters, translating my parents’ letters to Arabic, travelling, even personally approaching Princes to help gather funds for the needed bloodmoney, among others. He was one of the first persons to know when I would be actually set free. To all of his help, I and my family will always be grateful. I personally experienced how he spent his time, money and effort to assist us in our times of need. He works with sincerity, compassion, perseverance and dedication. These are traits of a leader needed in our Philippine Embassy in Saudi Arabia. If given the chance to be our Ambassador, I know that our OFW’s will be in good hands for they have someone highly qualified and experienced to attend to their needs. I can personally attest to that. Thank you and God bless Dondon Lanuza ex-OFW on Deathrow. Hannan highlighted the plight of 52-year-old Salmos, who had met with an electrical accident while at work in 2010, who lives alone with no family support in Jeddah or any job to sustain him during his crisis. Thanks to Hannan’s initiative, Salmos’ plight caught the attention of Human Rights associations when his photo appeared on major social networks, including various channels in the Philippines. Therefore let us all cast our stone towards making this place a better place for one another. I thank you all for making the night one to remember. May God continue to bless you all, and may we continue to invest in humanity. Good day to all.” Princess Maria has delivered her Keynote Address: "Jambo! His Excellency, Dr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, Honorable Dr. Evans Kidero, Governor of Nairobi County, distinguished guests, a pleasant evening to all of you. I am over joyed to be invited to this beautiful country as your honoured guest to this very important ceremony. Before I continue, allow me to share something to you. Exactly 2 weeks ago, I lost to sickness the most important person in my life. I am referring to my mother. She was my hero, the wind beneath my wings. In the inside, I am still grieving and not ready to face the world yet. But here I am, standing before you, because my mother wouldn’t want me to miss this day, to recognize someone who himself is a very honourable man among many people, near and far from Kenya. As the chairman of the Global Officials of Dignity Awards (G.O.D. Awards), we seek out leaders with passion and a lot of heart. We invite these leaders for their outstanding work within their country and/ or around the world as humanitarians to be invited to our annual gala at the United Nations and recognize their efforts. Today we are celebrating one leader in particular, The Honourable Dr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, who definitely deserves today’s “African Dignitary Man of the Year” award. Allow me to highlight with you some of the notable achievements this successful leader is being recognized for. We can all agree that a leader can have many traits and qualities, but what stands out for me, is his PASSION. Passionate to help the people of Kenya. For example, launching an organization in 2005 called the Kalonzo Musyoka Foundation (KMF), to sponsor education of brilliant students from needy backgrounds, and promote community development through the creation of a just, healthy, peaceful and democratic society. In the words of the great Nelson Mandela, who is also his friend.. – “It always seems impossible until it’s done.” You my dear friend have certainly done many impossible achievements. Such as leading peace dialogues in Sudan, which culminated in the birth of the South Sudan State as well as the Somalia peace initiative. His Excellency has demonstrated DEDICATION as a leader to his people where he served for a five year term running from 2008 to 2013 as the immediate former Vice President of the Republic of Kenya. A total of 3 decades, he has over the years served in a number of key cabinet positions, including, that of Education, Foreign Affairs and Environment. As well to have been recognized, for your leadership and your INTEGRITY, his Excellency was appointed in 2013 as the Honorary Chairman of World Eminent Chinese Businessmen Association (WECBA), which is a China-based organization bringing together global business leaders and philanthropists. Then in 2014 appointed by the Government of Cyprus as the Honorary Consul General for Cyprus in Kenya. Let me tell you my own experience of His Excellency’s good heart. While in New York for the G.O.D. awards at the United Nations. He came to my aid. I was experiencing severe stomach pain right on the day of the big event. Luckily, his Excellency brought medicine with him from Kenya and without any fuzz, he offered his help and he made sure, that I was all right to attend my own special event. Again, an exemplary leader with a good heart who cares for the needs of others. I want to personally recognize you for your GENEROSITY as a respected friend. It is with great pleasure that I stand here in person to celebrate and honour his Excellency for his many notable achievements as a leader and as a humanitarian of many good deeds. I truly believe the Honorable Dr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka will represent the people of Kenya with integrity, with dedication and with his heart of generosity. If you allow me Your Excellency, I would like to take this opportunity to mention a few of the overflowing congratulatory messages I received from your friends, your co-honorees at the 4th G.O.D. Awards. First one was from His Highness Prince Faisal bin Fahd bin Abdullah Al Saud, member of The Royal House of Saud and founder of the Saudi-America Exchange. He said, “My big congratulations to you, Your Excellency and most of all congratulations to the people of Kenya for having a great leader like you.” Next message is from Dr. Binod Chaudhary, Chairman of Chaudhary Group, the only Billionaire of Nepal and conferred as The Man of Asia: “His Excellency Dr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka is known for his unparalleled leadership and passion to help his people. Just like his friends, the great Nelson Mandela and Kofi Annan, he is the Man of Africa. I feel privileged to have him as my co-honoree at the recent 4th GOD Awards at the United Nations.. just as Kenya is privileged to have him as a leader.” Last one from Former Prime Minister of Nepal, Khil Raj Regmi, conferred as Asia’s Dignitary Man of the Year, His Excellency Khil Raj Regmi: “Leader to a leader, I have high respect for Dr. Kalonzo for he possessed the heart and mind of a brilliant leader and humanitarian spirit of a great person, which make a perfect combination to lead a country.” Before I end my speech, I would like to say to His Excellency that you can always count on me and We Care for Humanity, in your advocacies to eradicate poverty, to promote peace and green environment, to empower women and children, and to support your vision to have a FREE Corruption government. You are without a doubt the “African Dignitary Man" not just of this year but of countless years! Congratulations and thank you. " |
