BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH OF JACOB WHEELER Jacob Wheeler spent over fifteen years exploring his creative talents in various capacities within the entertainment and fashion industries of Europe and Asia—at times acting, often singing, but whether in Rome, Tokyo, Cannes or Paris, always pursuing his creative impulses. While in Paris, as a singer, Jacob released recordings under the pseudonym, “The Peter Jacques Band,” and several solo recordings. He later joined the cast of “Bubbling Brown Sugar,” as an actor/singer, subsequently, recording a duet with the Broadway Show’s star performer, Vivian Reed. The songs were his compositions. When the French government opened the airwaves to privately owned radio stations, Jacob secured the financing and managed the first “All-English Radio” station in Paris (KLOV-96.6FM) where he also served as an on-air personality each morning. During that same period Jacob was instrumental in producing fashion shows with and for the legendary designer, M. Hubert de Givenchy. Since childhood, Jacob has been an avid movie fan and critic. His first viewing of the remarkable classic film, Cinema Paradiso, convinced him that the story was about his own life. During those years, living in France and Italy, he made frequent visits to the Cannes Film festival. When asked how he was able to go year after year, he responded, “…they told me only actors get in free. So I told them, I’m an actor, to which they requested my film credits. I listed every film I knew had more than five black people. After producing a homemade headshot that evening, I became a badge wearing entrant.” Jacob toured Italy for several years as lead singer for various Italian artists including Enzo Avitabile, Tony Esposito and performed in a video for Edoardo Bennato. Also, recorded songs for the Joe D’Amato film “Top Model.” Jacob’s Italian adventure, culminated in a concert in New York City at the famed Apollo Theatre with James Brown and the Temptations called “Harlem Meets Naples.” Ironically, Jacob was listed on the program as one of the Italian guests, as he had made the journey from Rome with the Italians. In Japan, Jacob became a print model, while singing in Tokyo jazz clubs and touring the country with several different Japanese artists. Then, just before leaving Japan, he performed the closing theme for the blockbuster Japanese animated film, Gundam, (“Magic”) which he also composed. In an attempt to provide security for his wife and daughter, Jacob became a stockbroker and later a manager of two different California branches of Citibank, Huntington Beach and Woodland Hills. The most astonishing detail of this adventure was that Jacob never went to college. Among other achievements in banking, Jacob created and conducted numerous seminars on financial literacy. A former U. S. Air Force Intelligence Specialist, Jacob is fluent in French and Italian and is currently studying Spanish. Jacob left the financial services industry and returned to his first love, entertainment and the visual arts. Photography has been added to his professional repertoire. Be it, portraits, products, likenesses of creatures in the clouds, or erotic imagery, he proclaims, “beauty is everywhere in everything.” Currently living in New York City and studying with celebrity acting coach Susan Batson, while working on a screenplay and One-Man Show to be unveiled in September. www.JacobWheelerPhotography.com
